JCPA HORRIFIED BY MURDER OF ISRAELI SOLDIERS IN RAMALLAH

October 12, 2000 – "The Jewish Council for Public Affairs (JCPA) is horrified by the brutal murder -- possibly with the complicity of Palestinian Authority police -- of two Israeli soldiers by a Palestinian mob in Ramallah. We demand that Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat immediately take measures to bring an immediate end to the wanton violence that he himself has encouraged. We urge the international community to join in condemning Chairman Arafat’s despicable behavior. If the peace process is to have any chance of succeeding in the future, these acts of violence must stop now.

We also condemn the terrorist attack in Yemen on the battleship USS Cole and mourn the loss of the brave United States sailors who died in the service of their country. We send our prayers for those still missing and wish the injured a speedy and full recovery. The perpetrators of this heinous crime must be brought to justice."
